MJ’s CURRENT Statement on AI

This project was completed with generous use of the AI model MidJourney.
While I think there is a possible future where commercial artists and illustrators like myself can ethically utilize AI art as a tool (ie, underpaintings, fantastical reference, etc), after consideration, I do not believe that any AI company addresses their sources for training data in a manner I am comfortable with. For the convenience that AI generated underpaintings, reference, or photo-manipulation assets provide, the ethical ramifications are not worth it.

For the foreseeable future, I will not be using AI in any of my work.

I might reconsider this stance if there are heavy enough restrictions imposed on AI development that cover copyright and compensation surrounding training data. But honestly? I think my skills are strong enough to not require AI for the vast majority of projects anyways.
